GAS CONCESSION POLICY


Gas supply concession

A gas concession (i.e. a reduced charge for domestic consumers of natural gas) will apply from 15 December 2009.
This concession, in the form of a discount on your natural gas bill, was brought in by Decree 185/08, ratified by Law 2/2009, and is aimed at helping disadvantaged families by reducing their annual gas bill.

All domestic consumers of natural gas may be considered for the concession available in the family home where the meter class is not above G6 and the ISEE (adjusted household income) is less than or equal to 7,500 euros. For families with at least 4 dependent children the ISEE threshold is 20,000 euros.
The concession is also available to domestic customers using common condominium natural gas systems. In this event if there is no individual contract with a gas supplier the concession may be collected at Italian post office outlets (domestic user payment by bank transfer).
The amount of the concession varies depending on climate area, natural gas user category and family size.The concession is granted for twelve months and is renewable on application.
The concession is only available for mains natural gas (not for bottled gas or LPG).

Applications lodged by 30 April 2010 will be eligible for a concession backdated for all of 2009.

To apply for the concession visit your local council offices or the agency nominated by them and lodge a duly completed application form.

Applicants for the concession must attach an ISEE statement to the completed form as well as a copy of their identity document.

The gas concession is also available to recipients of the electricity concession for low income and physically disadvantaged families introduced earlier.
