EstEnergy’s New Billing System is even more customer friendly
At EstEnergy, the energy products retailer for the AcegasAps and Ascopiave group, with offices in Trieste and Padua, we continue to focus on service improvement, aiming to make our administrative processes even more efficient and transparent.
More
In pursuing these objectives, over the next few months we will introduce a new billing system for customers who use up to 5000 m3 per annum.
The Regulatory Authority for Electricity and Gas, in Decision 229/01, decided that retailers should set billing and reading intervals based on the customer's annual consumption as follows: for Customers using 500 cubic metres annually at least one reading per annum with four-monthly billing; for customers using 500 - 5000 cubic metres annually, at least 2 readings per annum with quarterly billing; for customers using more than 5000 cubic metres annually one monthly reading and bill (in months where consumption is less than 90% of the monthly average there may be no need to send a bill or read the meter).
With our new billing system customers using 500 – 5000 cubic metres annually will be issued 5 bills, 4 of which will be two-monthly and 1 four-monthly, while customers using less than 500 cubic metres annually will be issued 3 four-monthly bills; there is no change to the cycle for customers using more than 5000 cubic metres annually who will be issued 12 monthly bills.
The number of bills received and paid by gas customers using up to 5000 cubic metres will therefore change. This in particular will benefit customers using less than 500 cubic metres per annum who will no longer have to worry about paying small bills that arrive close together.
This will not be the only benefit as by introducing new billing cycles our intention has been to make bills more consistent with actual use. As a matter of fact customers are sometimes surprised to receive bills showing high use levels at times of the year when use is declining. This happens because that at the moment bills combine readings taken at different times thus showing past levels of consumption.
Under the new billing system special attention has been paid to setting reading dates at the beginning and end of the winter season so that for users of up to 5000 cubic metres per annum readings will be taken in May and September. The 2 readings will therefore be taken at the end and the beginning of the winter season when use is higher so charges can be distributed more evenly across the 5 bills, using a per day calculation method. The bill will therefore cover the entire bill period, taking into account actual readings, any self readings and estimated use.
The bill coverage period may include both actual use, where a reading has been taken, and estimated use, the latter being calculated to the end of the bill coverage period; when a reading or self-reading has not been taken the bill will only show estimated use.

The AcegasAps-Ascopiave Deal: Ascopiave buys 49% of EstEnergy
Ascopiave today signed a contract for a 49%, 38 million euro, share in EstEnergy, which is fully controlled by AcegasAps. The amount paid values the company at 86 million euros.
The agreement between the two Northeast Italy utility companies, both listed on the Italian stock exchange, was announced last September as part of AcegasAps’s search for a partner with which to share the development of a gas and electricity sales business.

During the process AcegasAps was assisted by UniCredit MIB and Studio Gusso, while Ascopiave brought in Finanziaria Internazionale and the legal firm Bonelli Erede Pappalardo.
The Chairman of AcegasAps Massimo Paniccia said that "the share and company arrangement with EstEnergy will allow for some consolidation in the gas and electricity sales sector throughout the Triveneto region and join the forces of two businesses that have a great deal of experience in the energy sector and are firmly established, in a region which offers an abundance of opportunities in terms of cross-selling".
The Chairman of Ascopiave Gildo Salton, said that the “agreement with Acegas-Aps is a significant business move and a major step in the process of bringing together this large multi-utility of the Northeast".
